Civil unrest continued into the overnight hours Tuesday in Baltimore after National Guard troops were called in to contain riots in that city's streets following the funeral of Freddie Gray, a man who mysteriously died in police custody on April 12.
Police said in a statement Monday that they had received information that members of "various gangs" — including the Black Guerrilla Family, the Bloods and the Crips — had "entered into a partnership" to harm police.
City Council president Jack Young called those comments "false."
