Jun 2, 2017Jury selection for the retrial of ex-police officer Ray Tensing continues Friday after a three-day pause in trial proceedings pending a decision on media accessibility.The pool of potential jurors will be whittled down to 12 and four alternates to hear the case against Tensing, a former University of Cincinnati police officer being retried for murder. About 1,000 prospective jurors were initially summoned for this week’s retrial. That number was cut down to 243 after hardship hearings, and then to 180, who filled out a 25-page questionnaire last week.

They include Blanchett and Mara for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture; Best Drama; Haynes for Best Director of a Motion Picture; and Best Original Score. The movie's critical success has also created increased buzz for Cincinnati as a filmmaking destination. Sunday's awards are also a fare gauge for how "Carol" could be received by the Academy Awards, who will announce its Oscar nominations on Jan. 14.
